Support Developer

We are looking for a mid-level PHP developer to work with our team providing development support on a wide variety of internal apps and platforms. This position would be an on-site position based in Bloomington/Normal, IL or a remote position located within North American timezones.

This position is ideal for a developer wanting to get a lot of experience rapidly. Your skill set will increase drastically. We offer a career path to developers with training, book and conference budget. You'll be in at the deep end, but with the help of an expert team.

You need to be familiar with the latest techniques and technologies in web development and have the drive to stay up to date and learn more. If you have knowledge and experience which you want to build into a solid, professional understanding of web technologies - frontend, backend, server - this role is for you.

You should exhibit an ability and desire to learn quickly and apply new technologies and a be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, and basic JS.

 

Responsibilities

We don't expect you to be ready to take all this on at the outset, but do expect you to have the drive and passion for the technologies to learn rapidly.

 

  • Working directly with the lead developer and system analysts to fix issues, make enhancements on web systems, and troubleshoot challenging problems
  • Analyzing and technical planning of modifications to existing systems
  • Making modifications, testing, handing over to internal and external clients
  • Working with the technical lead and technical director to help construct architectural plans for future of each system

 

To be considered for the role, you will need to have demonstrable experience in the following:

 

  • Experience in the Laravel Framework
  • Good level of knowledge of modern PHP and modern web standards with HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript
  • Experience with modern open source frameworks and CMS
  • Comfortable in version controls systems, such as Git
  • Be an excellent communicator in everything you do: professional interactions, emails and code.

 

We would like to see experience in the following:

 

  • Familiarity with the command line
  • An understanding of MySQL and database design
  • Familiar with modern JavaScript
